Fortis Energy acquires 180 MWac solar project with BESS in Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia.

 

Fortis Energy expands its portfolio. Fortis has acquired 180 MW(AC) solar project with BESS (battery energy storage system) in Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia. The 180 MWac photovoltaic solar generation asset, located in Serbia, is expected to be one of the largest solar power plant and energy storage system in the Southeast Europe. 

Battery energy storage system (BESS) is a system that uses batteries to store electrical energy. They can fulfill a whole range of functions in the electricity grid or the integration of renewable energies. Fortis plans to install BESS of 36 MW/h capacity.

Construction of the project is expected to begin in 2025.
